Welcome Back, PRSSA!
by Sydney Tipton
With winter break over and the first few weeks of spring semester under our belts, PRSSA meetings are back on. Exciting guest speakers and involvement opportunities are just around the corner at the largest PRSSA chapter in the world!
For non-members, the University of Georgia is the home to the Drewry chapter of the Public Relations Student Society of America, an organization focusing on preparing students to enter the AdPR industry with networking, professional speakers and a multitude of information through national emails from PRSA. To become a member, click the link in the bio of UGA’s PRSSA instagram, @ugaprssa, and make sure you pay your dues by March 1, 2024 at 11:59 pm.
For current members, welcome back! This semester we’ll hit the ground running back into our usual schedule of bi-weekly meetings, and we have quite the agenda. Our most recent meeting, January 23, we heard from Mohamed Massaquoi, a former UGA football player and NFL athlete as well as current founder of his own business consulting firm VESSOL, on being a strong leader in your workplace.
Our next meeting is February 6th, where we will hear from Augusto Michal Trujillo, Naria Frazer, Bruno Giordano and Eleni Farmakis, a panel discussing leadership in DEI. On February 13 we’ll be visited by Liza Dunning to learn more about creative communications, and March 12 will hear from Bob Hope and Daniel Groce on the PRSA Order of Phoenix Award.
On March 19 there is an Exec Board 2024-2025 info session, and on April 2 there is a travel PR meeting with expertise from Jordan McManus and Julie Hong. April 9 brings us Ron DeFeo speaking on American Airlines, and the senior banquet is April 23 to celebrate our graduates.
We hope to see you soon for these great speakers and information sessions!
