Why do you want to serve on the PRSSA Executive Board? The summer before sophomore year, I decided to change my major to public relations. I met with someone in the career center and learned about an organization called PRSSA. I went to the first meeting that semester, and haven’t looked back ever since. I remember feeling so welcome from the very beginning and calling my mom afterwards to tell her I felt like I was exactly where I needed to be. It sounds cheesy, but it was truly a surreal feeling. This organization has given me so much, and serving as President on the executive board would be a perfect way for me to give back. As President, my hope would be that I could get even more students involved in PRSSA and that they would hopefully gain from it the amazing experiences that I have.

Why do you want to serve on the PRSSA Executive Board? I want to serve on the PRSSA Executive Board because I have developed a passion for this program and the opportunities it provides for future PR professionals. As an executive board member, I hope to ensure that our members are able to reach their fullest potential through the resources provided by the organization. As a current executive board member, I have helped to create the Pathway Scholarship which helped to ensure membership to those with financial limitations. I hope that with the coming year I will have the chance to assist more members in reaching their goals. As Vice President, I hope to work with our committee heads and committee members to ensure a mutually beneficial leadership experience for all. PRSSA is meant to help build relationships and the networks of our members, as Vice President I hope to assist more members and to reach more students.

Why do you want to serve on the PRSSA Executive Board? Serving on the PRSSA Executive Board would challenge me to step out of my comfort zone. I believe it would allow for tremendous growth in both leadership and teamwork. I want to serve on this board for the valuable experience of leading a professional organization and the opportunity to help the chapter in any way that I can. I believe I can bring new ideas for events and keep the chapter updated in an organized and detailed manner.

Why do you want to serve on the PRSSA Executive Board? During my two years in PRSSA, I have worked on the social media committee, the publicity committee, AdPR Connection’s marketing committee and TourStop UGA. These experiences have given me real-world, hands-on experiences that have supplemented my coursework and broadened my network of peers and professionals. However, during my senior year, I’d love to give back to PRSSA on an even larger scale by serving on the E-board. I want to be a part of the team that nurtures not only collegiate relationships, but industry relationships, as well. Being the biggest PRSSA chapter in the nation comes with even bigger responsibility, but I am up for the challenge. I’ve gained invaluable insights from our past speakers, and I want to continue giving members access to these exciting opportunities by solving any day-to-day challenges that may arise and ensuring open communication between the chapter, the committees and the e-board.

Why do you want to serve on the PRSSA Executive Board? Ultimately, I want to serve on the executive board of PRSSA because I want to give more of my time and effort to an organization that has given so much to me these past couple of years. I have learned so many of PRSSA’s strengths, and I want to have a bigger role in helping uphold those. Likewise, I have encountered a couple of PRSSA’s areas for improvement, and I certainly want to be able to positively impact this organization in a way that I previously could not. PRSSA was the first organization I joined here at UGA, and quickly became an organization I knew I wanted to be able to pour into more and more each year, and this year I feel called to serve in a high position to help ensure that every current and potential PRSSA member is as passionate about PRSSA as I am.

Why do you want to serve on the PRSSA Executive Board? I look up to quite a few of the executive board members and they have made me want to be both a leader and a friend in PRSSA like they have been to me. They’ve shown me how important PRSSA has been to them, how much they’ve grown from being a leader in the club, and the potential impact I could have on the members by being on the board as well. I’d love to be in a place where I could help execute all communications smoothly and be a contact for the members to reach out for anything. I’ve loved being a member because of the great insights from guest speakers and tips for interviews and internships. PRSSA is the sole reason I’ve acquired a summer internship that I’m passionate about, and I’d like to be a part of the board to pay it back so-to-speak. My motivation to maintain the legacy of the current board and gratitude for PRSSA as a whole is what makes me want to serve as an executive member.

Why do you want to serve on the PRSSA Executive Board? I have always loved being a part of PRSSA ever since I first got into Grady my sophomore year. I feel that so many of the speakers that we have had over the years have motivated me and given me a sense of confidence to go out and discern what I want to do with my life and I always walk away from meetings with new ideas for myself. All of the work I have done on the Publications and Member Relations committees, have given me amazing world experiences and introduced me to some great people. I feel that I have experienced a lot of different parts of PRSSA, as a general body member and on two different committees, that I would have a great perspective on what the members need and how we can serve them the best. I feel that I am finally at a place where I have had a lot of really influential experiences and know myself enough, where I could offer a lot to my fellow members. I would love the opportunity to get more involved and allow this club to help me even more.

Why do you want to serve on the PRSSA Executive Board? The brilliant cellist, Yo-Yo Ma, once said, “Passion is one great force that unleashes creativity, because if you’re passionate about something, then you’re more willing to take risks.” Public Relations is a field I have been passionate about for as long as I can remember. I feel so lucky to have found such a home in PRSSA at UGA. I’ve bonded with people who share interests, but, more importantly, have grown as a woman, a leader, and a professional. I want to serve this chapter and help it thrive so that it may provide the same experience for students to come. Leadership is not a cult of personality or popularity. For me, leadership is both about service to others but, also, about bold ideas and gathering consensus. My philosophy is that we lead to serve with energy and imagination, and I want to do just that for our chapter on the PRSSA Executive Board next year.

Why do you want to serve on the PRSSA Executive Board? About a month after joining PRSSA, I knew that I wanted to be on the executive board. I feel as though opportunities such as this one help shape good people into great ones! When I think of the executive board, I think of leaders, and becoming a better leader has been the most appealing factor as to why I would love to serve on the executive board. PRSSA should be a part of every Grady students life, and I want to proudly represent this organization all over campus. Lastly, I feel as though becoming an executive member for PRSSA gives me a chance to leave my mark on Grady college which I have been determined to do as soon as I received my acceptance letter!

Why do you want to serve on the PRSSA Executive Board? I have poured my heart into PRSSA the past three years- serving as the Public Relations Director will allow me to give back to the organization that has given me incredible opportunities and knowledge. Publicizing PRSSA is an important aspect of this position. Because of my commitment, I have a great understanding of how to best achieve our goals as an organization. As the PR Director, I want to strengthen how we as an organization present ourselves through social media, tabling and speaking to classes. I want to work closely with the Social Media Director to create a press material outline for the social media and publicity committees to use as a guide so our materials remain captivating and cohesive at all times. I am already starting the first step of this process by taking responsibility to redesign the PRSSA website with Kim. I also want to continue to lead our hardworking and passionate members. It has been an honor serving as the publicity committee head- I want to apply what I’ve learned this past year from working closely with the current PR Director and publicity committee members to the role of the PR Director.

Why do you want to serve on the PRSSA Executive Board? I am an extremely well-organized person and am very driven. When I make a commitment, I make sure to go above and beyond in doing the best work I can do. I love learning and aspire to be the best I can be in all things. Through being a member of the PRSSA Publications Committee and a contributor for The Red & Black, my written communication skills are extremely strong. Through my position as the Co-Marketing Chair of Rescue Paws UGA, I learned how to communicate efficiently with an executive board and work well with my co-chair. I love working on a team and making sure everyone does each task skillfully and in a timely manner. I am very passionate about PRSSA and know that my excitement for the club will be expressed through my work as Director of Content.
