Better Understanding Your Audience With BEDI

At our recent PRSSA meeting, we had the opportunity to hear from three incredible professionals who shared their experiences navigating audience engagement, communication strategies and the importance of authenticity across different industries.
Eniola Badejo | NBCUniversal Intern and UGA student
From reaching Gen Z and millennial audiences to navigating ever-changing social media algorithms, Badejo emphasized the importance of creating authentic content that builds genuine communities. His biggest takeaway? Anyone can create content, but building meaningful relationships and earning an audience’s trust takes intentionality.
Elizabeth Rasberry | Director of Employee Engagement at Amentum
Rasberry highlighted the importance of understanding how to reach employees with different roles, backgrounds and access to technology. Whether communicating through digital platforms, workplace signage or managers, effective internal communication requires creativity, curiosity and inclusivity.
Her advice? Never assume you know your audience. Take the time to learn from the people you’re trying to reach.
Jonathan Peters | Associate Dean for Academic Affairs at UGA’s Grady College
Peters shared how communicating with students, faculty, staff, alumni and industry professionals requires empathy, adaptability and active listening. He emphasized the importance of approaching situations with kindness, challenging assumptions and understanding the full picture before making decisions, especially during a crisis.
A huge thank you to our guest speakers for sharing their insights and reminding us that the foundation of great PR is always people!
