Member of the Month: Sam Genzale
By Abby Clark
Our Drewry Chapter of PRSSA boasts of many talented, dedicated members who continue to demonstrate their work ethic and drive for success within PRSSA and other organizations. Sam Genzale, a third-year public relations major and member of the public relations committee, is an outstanding member who has been nominated for PRSSA’s member of the month by PR committee head, Ashley Hoffman.
“Sam is always the first person to volunteer for events and for each assignment. She exceeds my expectations,” Hoffman said.
Within the PR committee, Genzale primarily works on writing press releases and creating graphics for events. She has been a member of PRSSA since her freshman year and has served on both the networking and public relations committees.
“I love the team of girls I work with and how passionate everyone is about the industry and the work we put out,” Genzale said. “The PR committee has definitely made this year in PRSSA my favorite. I’m learning skills that I can actually utilize once I enter the industry.”
Outside of PRSSA, she is currently on the executive board of her sorority, Gamma Phi Beta, and works in guest services within the leadership development program at Athens Church. She is also a member of the Institute for Leadership Advancement and serves the local nonprofit, Athens PB&J, which helps to bridge the gap between the Athens community and the homeless.
Previously, Genzale has written for The Odyssey and was the outreach chair for UGA SOUL, a faith-based service organization here on campus. She has also studied abroad in France at the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity with Grady College.
“From previous leadership positions, my study abroad experience and my current job, I have learned that every business needs PR and the skills that follow it,” Genzale said. “There are so many opportunities within PR, and the industry has a lot of variety. Because of this, I know that I will never be bored and that I always have the chance to be creative and chase after what I want. It’s competitive, but that’s why I’m so intrigued by it.”
We are so proud of members like Sam Genzale and how they continue to model excellence both within and beyond our organization. It is members like these that uphold the culture of PRSSA and maintain the hardworking environment we value.
