Meet This Year’s Executive Board
By Ellie Hamrick
PRSSA is a pre-professional organization that prepares its members for various jobs in the communication industry; however, one thing is for certain – PRSSA would not run smoothly, much less cease to exist, if it weren’t for the amazing people on PRSSA’s executive board. PRSSA’s executive board is made up of nine members who fulfill different purposes in ensuring that PRSSA runs smoothly. In order to properly introduce our executive board, I asked each member their name, title, educational background, and where they want to travel the most. Here are their responses:
Morgan Jones–President
Morgan Jones is the president of the Drewry chapter this year. Jones is a senior public relations major minoring in sociology and pursuing a certificate in new media. Her role as president consists of leading all of the PRSSA meetings, as well as overseeing the executive board and communicating with National PRSSA. If Jones could travel anywhere in the world, she would want to go to Scotland to see the ancient ruins.
Sophie Difusco–Vice President
Sophie Difusco is the vice president of our chapter this year. Difusco is a senior public relations major minoring in fashion merchandising and pursuing a certificate in new media. Sophie’s primary role is overseeing all of the committees, as well as acting as a liaison between the committee heads and the executive board. If she could travel anywhere in the world, she would want to go to Japan.
Sara Lawrence–Public Relations Director
Sara Lawrence is our director of public relations for the 2023-2024 school year. Lawrence is a senior public relations major minoring in sociology, communication studies, and pursuing a certificate in new media. As the director of public relations, Sara creates graphics and other content in order to promote PRSSA; she also oversees the public relations committee. Lawrence would want to go to Greece if she could travel anywhere in the world.
Mia Bonfiglio–Director of Content
As the Director of Content this year, Mia will be tasked with writing content for the Drewry chapter website, as well as overseeing the content committee. Mia is a senior public relations major who is minoring in business and pursuing certificates in new media, entrepreneurship and personal and organizational leadership. If Mia could travel anywhere, she would want to go to Thailand or Tokyo.
Kathryn Penn–Director of Member Relations
As the Director of Member Relations, Kathryn Penn is tasked with ensuring that PRSSA’s membership runs smoothly, creating weekly newsletters to send in the PRSSA listserv and overseeing the member relations committee. Penn is a senior public relations major minoring in general business and film. If Kathryn could travel anywhere, she would want to travel to Ireland.
Abby Samet–Director of Finance
Abby Samet is a junior public relations major minoring in business and pursuing certificates in personal leadership and sustainability. As the director of finance, Samet is tasked with managing all of the chapter’s finances, as well as managing fundraising efforts and the outreach committee. Abby wants to travel to Thailand.
Eli Banzon–Director of Internal Communications
Eli Banzon is a senior public relations and political science double major minoring in International Affairs. His role as the director of internal communications is to act as the liaison between our faculty advisor, Kim Landrum, and the executive board. If Eli could travel anywhere, he would want to go to Antarctica.
Deborah Yoon–Director of Social Media
Deborah Yoon is a senior advertising major minoring in Korean language and literature, as well as pursuing the new media certificate. As the director of social media, Deborah is primarily responsible for overseeing PRSSA’s social media presence, as well as the social media committee. If she could travel anywhere, Deborah would want to go to South Korea to visit her family.
Jin Lee–Director of DEI and Outreach
Jin Lee is a senior public relations major double minoring in business and dance. As the director of DEI and outreach, Jin is responsible for overseeing all things related to diversity, equity, and inclusion in our chapter. If she could travel anywhere, she would travel to Iceland.
It is because of the executive board that the Drewry Chapter of PRSSA is so successful, and PRSSA looks forward to another great year with another amazing executive board.
