Introducing the 2021-2022 PRSSA Committee Heads:
By: Sara Lawerence
Within PRSSA, we have seven different committees: Social Media, Member Relations, Outreach, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, Content, Event Planning, and Public Relations. All these committees give members an opportunity to become more involved within PRSSA and gain experience in an area they are passionate about.
Committee heads are in charge of their committees and serving as a liaison between committee members and the executive board. They help lead the committee alongside their executive board member and help with their various committee’s duties.
Morgan Jones is the Social Media Committee Head. She is majoring in public relations and sociology. Morgan is also interested in public policy and plans to obtain the PAC certificate. The social media committee creates graphics and other content to post on our social media pages and promotes the guest speakers/events on our social media platforms.
Mary Renfroe is the Member Relations Committee Head. She is pursuing majors in public relations and international affairs along with a certificate in new media. The Member Relations committee leads the recruitment efforts for PRSSA as well as fosters member engagement within the organization. She’s involved in Rogue Magazine, Strike Magazine, SWAB and Alpha Gamma Delta. She also designed one of the gameday buttons that Strike is selling and wants to work for Cosmopolitan Magazine someday!
Bo Robinson is the one of the co-heads for the Outreach Committee. Their main goals are facilitating fundraising and networking opportunities in PRSSA, such as planning percentage nights. He is a public relations major with a minor in public policy. He is also a barista at Jittery Joe’s and collects vinyl. Aside from PRSSA, he is a Research & Strategy Specialist for Talking Dog and a legislative fellow for the Representative Spencer Frye Fellowship.
Jenna Hughes is the other co-head of the Outreach Committee. The Outreach Committee is also responsible for overseeing the peer mentorship program. She is majoring in public relations and minoring in business and sustainability. She worked for the National Park Service in New York this summer!
Kathryn Penn is the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee head this year. She’s a public relations major and plans on pursuing the PAC certificate. The DEI committee works to make our chapter more diverse and inclusive, by educating members and highlighting minority industry professionals and their stories. This is a new committee this year and we are so excited for everything they have planned. Outside of PRSSA, she is a PR assistant for her sorority and involved with Special Olympics.
Sara Lawrence is the Content Committee Head. She is a public relations major and sociology minor, intending on pursuing the PAC certificate. The Content Committee writes articles and content for the PRSSA website, including meeting recaps that share insights from our guest speakers. Along with PRSSA, she is also involved in Alpha Omicron Pi and Digamma Kappa. She is a big Taylor Swift fan and wants to work on Capitol Hill as a press correspondent in the future.
Hope Baxter is the Event Planning Committee Head. They are in charge of planning events like the senior banquet and coordinating food and treats for the bi-weekly meetings. She is majoring in public relations and minoring in communication studies. She is involved in the Paw Print Agency, Women in Media and Dawg Camp. Hope also has a pit bull named Tequila!
Ansley McLendon is the Public Relations Committee Head. This committee is in charge of designing graphics and creating publicity for PRSSA. Typical duties include designing and hanging flyers and posters for students benefit all over Tate Student Center, the MLC and Grady College. She is majoring in public relations and has a minor in political science. She is also working towards the public affairs certificate. She would love to do corporate PR for the Walt Disney Company. She also served on PRSSA’s Executive Board as the Director of Internal Communications last year. Over the summer, she spent three weeks traveling Europe and did a whole week of solo travel in Paris. She would love to incorporate travel into her future career as well.
