College students are constantly under an insane amount of stress. Whether it’s grades, internships, jobs or student loans, students feel stress from several angles in their lives, and it can lead to a wide range of health issues. Although stress can be difficult to deal with, especially among college students, there are ways to manage it. Here are a few healthy tips to relax when life starts to feel a little too overwhelming:

1)   Get moving

Exercise and yoga are two of the best ways to destress. Doing any kind of physical activity releases endorphins and almost instantly increases your mood. Sometimes getting out in nature is exactly what you need to get your mind off of things. Spending as little as 15 minutes a day outside can significantly reduce stress levels.

2)   Meditate

Many people look past the health benefits of meditation or are unaware of the positive effects it can have on your mood. Meditation is one of the best ways to relax and clear your mind. While there are many reasons people should incorporate meditation into their daily routine, taking a moment to be silent or reflect on yourself and your emotions is extremely beneficial to your health and mental wellness.

3)   Use essential oils

Surrounding yourself with your favorite smells can instantly make you feel more relaxed, and aromatherapy is proven to be an effective stress reliever. Whether you light candles, use an oil diffuser or roll on oils, this will do wonders when trying to reduce high levels of stress. Lavender, rosemary, and peppermint are the three most common relaxing essential oils!

4)   Take a bath

Throw in your favorite bubble bath, turn on your favorite show or grab your favorite book, light some candles and enjoy a relaxing spa-like retreat in your own bathroom. Taking time for yourself and indulging in self-care can make a difference for both your physical and mental well-being.

5)   Drink relaxing tea

Chamomile tea and valerian root tea are two of the most calming and relaxing teas on the market. They are an excellent addition to your night-time routine and increases relaxation for a good night’s sleep.

At times, stress can seem impossible to escape. However, investing a little time in activities like these is a great way to prioritize well-being and reduce your stress levels.
